Smoking indoors - it still goes on y’know
Last night at The Las , I spotted two different people smoking, which isn’t a big deal of course. In fact, I felt strangely impressed for some reason, like a smoker’s revolution was starting up before my very eyes. As one friend pointed out, some people now stare at smokers breaking the smoking ban like they’d just racked up a line of coke on the bar and proceeded to snort it. And even then would anyone say a word? Wonder if Twenty Major has the odd sneaky fag at gigs or in pubs?

Believe it or not, The La’s was my first Ambassador gig. I’ve been put off by tales of appalling sound and lousy acoustics by tons of people, many of whom won’t go and see ANYONE there because they reckon the sound is that bad.
With me on Tuesday was an architect friend so I asked her if the sound was due to a crappy PA or the architecture and she replied immediately: “Architecture. This place wasn’t made for loud gigs”.
