“Three years of excuses and we’re still crap - tara Fergie.”

Watching the United V Blackburn match on Saturday was as much fun as it is generally watching Blackburn most of the time. Rovers haven’t beaten United at Old Trafford in over 40 years - until United’s sorry display on Saturday. The defeat probably stung a little more knowing that Mark Hughes must have learnt a good deal about being football management from playing under Ferguson himself. The Guardian reports that Ferguson received much abuse from the crowd, none louder than the stomp of feet leaving in protest before the match was over.

Is it time for him to go? I think so. He’s made lots of bad decisions in the last few years and the side has never looked so disparate (desperate?). The “three years…” banner appeared in 1989 after a defeat to Crystal Palace, but seems to have a certain prophetic element to it given United’s performance over the last three years. Admittedly, United under Ferguson dominated the Premiership in the second half of the nineties but now his influence has plateaued and Mr. Glazer should really start looking around for a replacement.

Yeah, but who’ll replace him? Martin O’Neill had been touted but he’s taking a break from football I think.

I’m half keen (no pun intended) on Roy Keane as player/manager, now that Ireland won’t have a load to do if they’re not going to Germany.
What’s Eric Cantona up to this days, apart from starring in films?
Last night’s defeat of Benfica spared Fergie further torture from the fans - he was very prickly when asked post-match about the ‘five games without a win’.
