Garreth
I've written for lots of magazines that don't have a web presence or any visible archive process. If anything, the content on sigla has had a longer shelf life than many publications with no archive. In many ways, print media is far more peripheral than the internet.
It's not a cost issue at all but this blog will be moving from the sigla url in the very near future and there just isn't room to host all that material (it's a HUGE archive).

I am sorry to discover that all the diverse material in the siglamag ezine has now been taken off the internet. How much does it cost per annum to keep such material posted up? Can publishers of ezines get friends and supporters to subscribe funds for maintenance of website costs? If ezines are taken off finally like that, does it mean that there is no record of the content to be found in the National Library and other research libraries? If so, does it mean that the internet is a peripheral place for aspiring writers of fiction and nonfiction to get published? This is not intended as adverse criticism of anybody involved. I'd just like persons with ezine and desk publishing knowhow to do a number of informative posts on what I think is an important communications issue. And Nollaig Shona diobh go leir o'n tSin a chairde.
