Sony deny de Menezes plot in Casino Royale

bondPossibly in response to a Daily Record story that claims ‘Bond Plot Mirrors 7/7 Killing’, Sony Pictures Ireland have just issued a press release stating the following:

“James Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, categorically deny reports that the script of CASINO ROYALE bears any resemblance to the tragic death of the innocent Brazilian citizen Mr Jean Charles de Menezes.

In the script of CASINO ROYALE James Bond does not kill any innocent people.

No further comment will be issued.”

Rob at The Londonist is not amused. Commenting on the fact that the Record refers to “chilling echoes” of the Casino Royale plot, he says:

“Chilling echoes? It’s the plot of Casino Royale for God’s sake.
Now, if the producers had decided to make Daniel Craig go for a piss while he was supposed to watching his suspect and then built a huge soundstage to recreate the magic of Stockwell (MI6 is just up the road) we might possibly be able to permit the use of the phrase “chilling echoes”.

The film is Daniel Craig’s first outing as Bond will be released here in November.
