Fiona de Londras has left the building
I’ve just heard via Suzy and Damien that Fiona has pulled the plug on Mental Meanderings. I’m really sorry to hear this, as it was one of the strongest blogs around - articulate, intelligent, insightful with exhaustively researched pieces and thoughtful commentary. Fiona has also blogged about women, gender and blogging and it seems the bloggosphere has lost one of its top female bloggers.
I know she’s very busy with a Ph. D but I hope she will return to blogging at some point in the future (or at the very least gatecrash some blog booze ups).
Richard must be gutted.
Best of luck Fiona.
Update: Suzy left a comment to say that Fiona has left a message at her old blog.

Why delete it though? Odd, isn’t it?

Really sorry to hear that Fiona has unplugged Mental Meanderings - I tried accessing it earlier but thought that it was just a blogger.com problem.
Best of luck to Fiona, she will be missed!

Dahm that was one of the best reads. Seems a terrible shame.
Good luck in the future Fiona if you are reading this.

When she very kindly offered to give me pointers for my land law exams the other day, she mentioned that she was going on holidays today. Maybe it’s just that. It’s hard to believe she would just cease.
I blame that fucker Twenty for insisting that bloggers going on hiatus refrain from communicating the fact to their several publicks.

Yes, deleting it seems a little extreme, especially when loyal readers didn’t get a good bye note.

If you don’t own the root domain, you place your trust in the people that keep your cache. I’m sure Fiona has seen people hijack the writing of others so she nuked the content, fenced the domain name, and walked. It would be good to know if she kept the text files. They represent an important pulse point of Irish social networking.

I kept the text files Bernie, don’t worry!
And for everyone else, thanks for the kind words.
Auds - goodbye note here fionadelondras.blogspot.com
And dont worry - I’ll stillbe arguing with people in comments everywhere!

I’m just trying to ensure people maintain a punishing schedule. It’s all or nothing.
