Da Vinci producer for Beslan film?
As mentioned in my Da Vinci review, Ron Howard makes very particular kinds of films and often surrounds himself with the same personnel. So forgive me if I’m a bit perturbed to hear that Brian Grazer, a producer who has worked with Howard on several films (including the Da Vinci code), is going to be involved in a film about last year’s tragedy in Beslan, Russia. In an article on the BBC website, Grazer is quoted as saying that the story “cried out to be told on the big screen”.
Whatever about transferring Dan Brown’s schlocky thriller to the big screen, this subject matter requires vastly more tact and I’m really not sure Grazer, Howard and co. are up to tackling such sensitive material.
