Rebecca: Part 2
I don’t usually dare moan about the fact that sometimes I have to read books for a living. BUT.
It occured to me today that it is literally a couple of MONTHS since I read a book that wasn’t work-related.
A sorry state of affairs indeed, especially when too much time is spent reading newspapers, magazines - and shock, horror - blogs.
After the saga earlier this year about the long search for Daphne Du Maurier’s Rebecca, I’m going to start it again tonight in honour of an impending reunion this week with the person who very kindly bought it for me. In the same post I mentioned Trinity Books, a shop I will never set foot in again, but that’s a story for another day.
So when I get back from St. James tonight, I’m resorting to comfort antics: Green & Black’s Almond chocolate, Rebecca and Disco Fred curled up beside me on the couch.

Sinead, that evening sounds like bliss!!! Am sure you will enjoy Rebecca; it’s such a phenomenal book. Just make sure you NEVER read “Rebecca’s Tale”, the sequel written by Sally Beauman and approved by the Du Maurier estate - it’s absolute dreck and nearly ruined Rebecca for me. Enjoy!

Mrs de Winter by Susan Hill is a fine sequel, though.
Rebecca remains one of my top 10 novels and is a perennial comfort-read of mine

One of my personal favorites…and read with chocolate, it can only be better.
