The return of Paul Hartnoll

hartnollHappy day - I’ve just discovered that Paul Hartnoll (formerly one half of Orbital) is not only back making music, but has his own myspace page. There are only two tracks up there - ‘Haven’t We Met Before?’, a gorgeous classical effort that doesn’t resemble the blips and bleeps days of his former act and ‘Patchwork Quilt’, which is due for release on December 4th through KIDS records and will be pressed on orange vinyl and limited to 1000.

I wonder if he regrets selling all of Orbital’s instruments and gear on Ebay?

yes indeed! orbital were and still are one of my favourite bands ever so it’s great to see they’re still creating music
check out phil’s band ‘longrange’ - you should find them on paul’s page as one of his top friends
they’re playing cargo in london in december i think

i really like “haven’t we met before”, love the strings, reminds of orbital’s more orchestral moments
he’s thrown up another track now called “gloopy” - really dig this one too on first listen
“patchwork guilt” hasn’t really hit me so far but i’ll give it time! :)
he’s djing with a load of warp records heads later this month, think it’s in manchester

never knew about him selling orbital’s gear!!
i suppose it means they won’t ever sound exactly like orbital anymore, should keep it fresh
