Phantom 105.2 schedule
After more High Court shenanigans than anyone likes to remember, Phantom 105.2FM finally launches next Tuesday October 31st. You’ll be able to pick up the station all over Dublin (and probably a bit beyond too) at 105.2FM. Just got the schedule, which for the moment just details what’s on offer Monday to Friday. I know that the excellent Paul Field aka Richie Ryan will return with a show on Saturday afternoons. Delighted to see Edel Coffey helming the morning show and perhaps the weekend schedules will reveal more women presenters. Either way, I know a lot of people who’ll be tuning in…
0700-1000 Pure Morning with Sinister Pete
1000-1200 Access All Areas with Edel Coffey
1200-1400 Out to Lunch with Neill Austin
1400-1700 Phantom Daily with Simon Maher
1700-2000 Heavy Traffic with Jack Hyland
2000-2200 Specialist stream (see below)
2200-0100 Bedrock with John Caddell
0100-0700 The Phantom
Specialist Stream: Weeknights 2000-2200
Monday: Metal notes - Heavy metal - with Ray McGowan
Tuesday: ICON - Irish Content with Aidan Lynch
Wednesday: Spiral Stares - industrial/goth/darkwave with Una Kenneally
Thursday: The Producers - international new music - John Walshe

Sinister Pete is about as sinister as a bath mat.

Just that I spent ages finding a place on FM for my itrip to work with my ipod in the car - 105.3. So now I’ll have to search for a fuzzy place on the radio again.
Given I don’t really listen to the radio apart from newsy/current affairs things, I don’t recognise any of the presenters, nor can I imagine myself tuning into any of their programmes , unless they introduce an Americana slot.

“industrial/goth/darkwave”
Does we really need two hours of this?
Overall I’m disappointed. Thought there’d be more cool stuff, it’s a bit bland, but then you’re not going to please everyone, are you? And I’m a fussy bastard.

There’s a lot of mixed feelings around about how the ‘new’ phantom will stack up compared to what it was before. We’ll just have to wait and see and give it a chance I guess. Fingers crossed.
Sinead, did you have a listen to Asobi Seksu’s new album? Would like to know what you think. If you don’t know of ‘em there’s a bit of a review back at the ranch: http://www.infactah.com/2006/10/playful-sex.html

Cahony, I saw that post and meant to reply but I’ve been knee deep in club listings until about an hour ago. I haven’t heard the album but I came across them on myspace during a spot of leap-frogging (you where you just click and click and click and end up miles from where you started) a while back. There’s something charmingly 80s about them and I love her voice.

You were hinting that Mr Dineen would be let free from his midnight slot on Today FM. Guess it didn’t happen. Pity….

Hi Mo,
Other people were hinting that Mr Dineen would be let free, not me! Quality broadcaster though.
As for the schedule, yep, it wont please everyone but sure give it a chance and you might find something you like when the weekend schedule is published. In the meantime, 10 days of mayhem lie ahead

Hi Mo, not hinting, but passing on a scurrilous rumour I heard. I listened in quite a bit this week to Dineen’s show. It’s a travesty he’s on so late.
Simon, you’re always going to get people complaining but whatever way people look at it, Phantom is offering something different to most commercial radio.
Really looking forward to Edel’s show and the seeing the weekend schedules. I used to love Paul/Richie’s show - plenty of good music, interviews and footie results.

Heres the weekend schedule stuff. Still a couple of gaps to be filled, brawls over who gets what slot. Feel free to insert rumour-names where the “TBC”’s are in the schedule. Did someone mention Tony Fenton?

Last time I heard Donal he was filling in the ‘last splash’ slot on at the sensible hour of 8-10. He was as good as ever. John Kelly and himself are the two best dj’s of our generation.
Not sure how your ‘I’m not rumour mongering, i’m just repeating someone who was rumour mongering’ defence would work, i’ll check with my lawyer!

Mo, I think heard that show too, and someone texted in after he’d played three songs (two of which were Grizzly Bear and Tunng) to say they’d be “turning off that rubbish”.
Oh, and I’ll check with my dictionary and see if hinting and rumour mongering are the same thing.
Thanks for that Simon, great to see so many of the old Phantom names there. Pearl’s show was great.
