Osaka Recordings and Eglantine Gouzy

eglantineIrish label Osaka Recordings recently released Boamaster, an album by French singer Eglantine Gouzy. It’s gorgeous poppy electro stuff from the label who previously released Silver Thread of Ghosts, by Dubliner Thomas Haugh under the name Hulk. STOG was one of the finest Irish albums of last year fusing strands of electronic to classical structures. One of the best tracks (available on Hulk’s myspace page) is a haunting piece called ‘The Moon versus the Sea’ that wouldn’t have been out of place on the soundtrack to Nick Cave’s grisly western, The Proposition.

Niall, you’d love the Hulk album, it’s really lovely.

    You going to Sufjan tonight?

  3. Niall Says:

    I’ll check it out.

I’ve no ticket for Sufjan, I didn’t even try when they went on sale. Wouldn’t have minded though. I’ll be heading to Calexico, Beirut & AHAAH thurs, LFO - Sat, CSS - Monday and TV on the Radio Tuesday, so looking forward to them

Woke up smiling after Sufjan. Brass, banjo and inflatable santas - and in the Olympia. Next time, I suppose it’ll be the Point, but the Olympia was just right for that vaudeville vibe.

[…] Thanks to Sinead for highlighting the great Irish label Osaka label. The good folks at Osaka sent along a copy of Eglantine Gouzy’s Boamaster. It reminds me of a cross between Coco Rosie, Nina Hynes, Múm and Camille with intriguing emotions evident both in her voice and in the music. Check out the MP3s below especially if you have a predilection for the mentioned artists. […]
