Choice Prize and Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’
If you’ve nowt to do this evening and are getting carried away by awards fever, tune in to Tom Dunne’s show on Today FM from 7pm tonight to hear live coverage of The Choice Music Prize from Vicar Street. The gig itself is completely sold out, but through the power of the wireless you can hear performances from 8 of the 10 nominated acts including Director, The Divine Comedy, Duke Special, The Immediate, David Kitt, Messiah J & The Expert, Republic of Loose and Si Schroeder. Fionn Regan and Snow Patrol are on tour in Australia and the US respectively.
You can also have a flutter with Paddy Power who currently have Duke Special installed as ther 8-11 favourite to win.
Who Will Win? I really don’t know. There’s 10 acts, 12 of us judging and a lot of shouting to be done. Already I’m imagining scences of Stuart Clarke and Rick O’Shea bound together at the wrist, fighting and cheered on by the other judges, like the video for Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’. Then of course when it’s all decided, the rest of the judges will all join in one big dance routine (choreographed by Tanya Sweeney) to show we’ve put our differences aside and have a winner.
