Old cinemas and Rick’s idea

azcinemAFor Father’s Day this year, I presented my dad with a three-day-old grandchild and a book called The A to Z of All Old Dublin Cinemas by George Kearns and Patrick Maguire. It’s self-published and as far as I know Hughes & Hughes have some sort of exclusive deal with the authors to stock the book. It’s also hard to find much about it online, but here’s a review from the RTE site.

So props to Rick, who’s settling in to his swanky new blog home by setting up a new group and is calling for recollections, reminiscences and reviews of old cinemas in Dublin. If you want to contribute, drop him a mail via his blog (and not Facebook, which he has sworn off til Friday as an experiment).

I’m not the only anorak in the village! Yay! Thought it was the “Dublin Cinemas - A Pictorial History” http://rickoshea.wordpress.com/2005/12/31/anything-but-socks/ you were talking about. Must track that one down…

    Plans continue apace…
