Nialler, Nokia and invoking the spirit of Bill Hicks

I’m pretty sure that very few people who pass through here don’t already read Niall’s blog, but Jim is encouraging people to ponder what happens when Nokia Trends Lab sponsorship of The Go Team/Cadence Weapon/Super Extra Bonus Party gig gets ugly and a corporate “dude” gets personal. Read all about (and be sure to read the comments) over at Niall’s. My favourite bit is Niall being told he’s not allowed to remove HIS OWN LAPTOP after doing visuals for SEBP. I can’t help thinking about Bill Hicks on people who work in marketing and advertising.

Aside from that my laptop is in a coma, so am working off a Mac that isn’t crazy about Wordpress.

That Bill Hicks routine is closer to the truth than people think.

I also can’t believe that they wouldn’t let him take his own laptop - the excuses from the nokia guy in the comments are complete rubbish as well. I’m finding it hard to not take it personally myself!

Yeah, it was a very low-key return. In Fact, Ah is dead, long live Modern Cadence!

Coincidentally, was listening to the Bill Hicks Oxford CD on the way in to work this morning .. the perfect antidote to the M50 and the inanities of morningtime radio.

So sad that the Hickmeister is no longer with us, which makes that CD (and the rest of his stuff) that much more poignant

    Planting a seed, planting a seed …

Aw maaaaan. It used to be about the music etc etc.

Seems like a bit of a storm in a teacup, Nialler clearly wasn’t happy, is within his right to say so, and someone just couldn’t let it go.

    Ah Mr. Hicks.
    Absolute legend.
I was a massive fan of Denis Leary but then I saw a youtube video of every joke Bill told and then it would show Leary doing stand-up and telling the exact same one.
