Sigur Ros Special and film-induced sleep

sigurrosOne of the best Christmas presents I received was the DVD of Heima, a documentary of Sigur Ros’ epic free tour of Iceland. I haven’t watched it yet for two reasons: I’m working my way through a Hitchcock box set and because I’m saving it up. Why? Mainly because I want to watch and savour it all in one go without falling asleep, something that’s been happening a lot due to sleep deprivation and a teething baba (my record is lasting seven minutes into Rope).

Tonight, if you missed it first time around, the BBC are reshowing their Culture Show special on the Icelandic band, and it’s only the second time the show has devoted an entire half hour to a band. It’s on BBC2 tonight at 11.35pm.

Grrrrreat Christmas present, I’d say that’d be brilliant! I’d love to see that programme as well but I don’t have BBC2, it’s all snowy no matter how many times I try and tune it back in. Le sigh.

Annie, have a poke around Youtube, I think I might have seen it on there before in two parts. BBC also has this fancy new iplayer thing where you can watch programmes back.

Good to see you’ve started a blog. :)

Thanks for the tip. Will be watching this. I’ve been saving up my copy of Heima too :).

  4. Joe Says:

Rope is Hitchcock’s most underrated films IMO - I absolutely love it. The premise alone is fantastic but I loved the experimentation with the long shots.

  5. Sinead Says:

Edel, we should watch it before the 25th so we can talk about it. Or save it for that weekend?

Joe, I will go back to it, honest. The same boxset has a film called Topaz in it, which is definitely a director in decline…

Great that the special is on tonight- still have yet to buy Heima but on the list. Bought the Sæglópur EP for a friend before Christmas and she seemed delighted to have the remixes of it.

You really are all in for a treat with Heima. It’s amazingly simple yet so brilliant and uplifting. Do enjoy!!!
