Great Loves: If you really have to go there…
Far be it from me to encourage anyone to buy into the state-sanctioned day of romance that is Valentine’s Day (I’m with Charlie Brooker on this one), but if you really must, The Book People have it all sown up. They’re selling all 20 books in the Great Loves series by Penguin (which I very nearly bought and never got around to) for a miserly £15.99 sterling (€27.49). Considering that the individual books are currently selling on Amazon for stg£3.99, this surely qualifies as a bit of a steal. Included in the series are Freud, Anaïs Nin, Tolstoy, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Trevor and one of my all time favourite writers, Katherine Mansfield. Nice cover designs too.
And not an over-priced bouquet or red teddy bear in sight.
Thanks to Kimbofo for the heads up.

I generally find Charlie Brooker to be right about everything.

That is quite the steal! I would move Heaven and Earth for a copy if I weren’t so desperately alone… I jest? Surely.
Ah no. I do
Congrats on the awards nomination by the way! I shall probably see thee there?

My set arrived today — absolutely lovely — in a nice box to boot. Can’t wait to start reading them, but which to read first?
