Famous movies via Russian folk art

rusfolk
Above is The Empire Strikes Back, as portrayed in Russian folk art. I also love the War of the Worlds one, The Matrix and Terminator. Some I can’t even figure out, but they’re adorable. My favourite is Spiderman. The full gallery is here:

Thanks to Martin.

    Hah!
I love “The Matrix” version, Sinead. Is Neo farting there?

  2. Sinead Says:

You know I didn’t even notice that! I love those two cats.

  3. Bock the Robber Says:

    Love it!

  4. Tim Says:

Can’t make out the Russian with the font that he uses but the pictures are great! The Harry Potter(?)-???? ???????- looks like he got something caught in the zipper!

  5. Tim Says:

Um- it didnt like the Russian font that I copied in so that is what all the extra question marks are! Translates to Igor Gorshenia but from the googles it looks like they call him Garri Potter so that pic might not be him at all.
Can delete this one Sinead- just wanted to explain all the punctuation!

I liked the matrix version. Great post. The folk art is interesting. Thanks for sharing with us.

I particularly like the Jean-Claude Van Damme one…….
thanks, and what an odd find….

  8. Nay Says:

They’re plain absurd! What are the cats in the Matrix version alluding to? I don’t remember any felines? Perhaps there isn’t a folk art translation for Special Agents but cats are nature’s closest match and infinitely more pleasing to the eye!
