Competition: Three double passes to Monade
One of the bands that remind me most of my time in college are Stereolab. Everyone was listening to them obsessively and fawning over their gorgeous skewed rhythms, all Gallic flourishes and breathy vocals. Well, most of the boys were fawning over singer Laetitia Sadier, but she wasn’t just a pretty face. A great lyricist, guitarist and queen of pop inventiveness, her current incarnation is Monade. Last month, they released Monstre Cosmic, which builds on the melodic loveliness of debut, A Few Steps More. This Sunday (March 16th) they play Dublin’s Sugar Club, with a cracking support line-up from Si Schroeder and Carly Sings.
To win one of three double passes, just answer the question below. Leave your answer in the comments or email me. Will pick a random winner on Friday.
Q: Laetitia sang on a track on Blur’s Parklife album, what was it?

And congrats to these winners. Enjoy.
Update:
Me: “Gimme three numbers from one to six”
Himself: “Hmmm. One. Four. Eh, five.”
So the winners are Orla, James and Ruadhan. Congrats. I should be at the gig so say hello if you see me.

Laetitia sang on “To the End” from Blur’s Parklife Album. Looks to be another cracking line-up from the Maximum Joy boys on Sunday night. The Sugar Club is the perfect venue for the lush vocals & honeyied harmonies of Monade too.

i saw them in Glasgow a few weekends and they were superb.
