Competition - Passes to see Chromatics/Donal Dineen/David Kitt
Maximum Joy host one of their biggest gigs to date with Portland’s Chromatics playing their first Irish date. Fronted by Ruth Radelet, theirs is the realm of dark, electro pop populated by synths, drums and guitar. Above is the video for their fantastic single, ‘In The City’. They also do a rather fine cover of Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’, which you can hear over on their myspace page. What do they sound like live? In their own words:
“Imagine if Michael McDonald accidentally crashed his yacht into a disco off the shores of Italy while staring into the horse head nebula.”
If you want to catch their Dublin gig, ably supported by Spilly Walker (aka David Kitt) and Donal Dineen, (a long term champion of the band) I have three double passes to give away. Just answer the following question: Name one other Chromatics member who isn’t Ruth. Leave your name and answer in the comments and I’ll pick three winners tomorrow. The gig takes place in Andrew’s Lane tomorrow night Thursday April 24th. Doors open at 10pm.
Update: And the winners are Lorcan, Ed and Colin. Enjoy!

They also do a mighty mighty version of Bruce Springsteens ‘I’m on Fire’. Ruths vocal is just amazing.
