Grannymar wins first Blog Post of the Month award

Read Grannymar’s very moving post about bereavement - it’s the inaugural winner of Damien’s new Blog Post of the Month award.

It takes real skill to write movingly on the subject of death, especially when you’re so proximate to it. Well done Grannymar. My nomination for May is Donagh’s post about planning to write a music, fear of Dad rock and feeling out of touch with music despite your best intentions to go and see Animal Collective.

It’s a completely different kind of post to Grannymar’s, but then many of the blogs I like have nothing in common with each other, except they all share a little window on to the world that enriches the reader.

Okay, to show how out of touch I’ve become, that is the first time I read Grannymar’s bereavement post. My post is not only completely different, its a different order of magnitude. Its great that there is a more formal way to give her post recognition. Well done to Grannymar for writing it. Thanks for the nomination Sinéad and the mention here. After reading Grannymar’s post I’m incredibly humbled.

Sinéad thank you for the mention.

Donagh variety is the spice of the blog world! We all have our own way to communicate. I often say ‘write from your heart and the rest will follow. I wish you well for the May nomination.
