Thank you to everyone who came along to the launch of The Long Gaze Back at the Liquor Rooms last night. It was so packed that I missed saying hello to many people (apologies!) but what a fantastic, air-punching, celebratory night. Such a wave of goodwill in a room full of inspiring women – I’m so proud to be the editor of these brilliant writers.
Anne Enright launched the anthology with wit and fire and charm – and made everyone laugh and feel inspired. Audio of her speech is courtesy of Róisín Ingle (who can be heard laughing throughout).
“It’s a double burden for women, not only do you have to suffer the discrimination, you have to put in all the fucking work to fix it”.
In Cork to discuss the book and short stories with Mary Costello and Éilís Ní Dhuibhne as part of the Cork International Short Story Festival, Friday, September 25th at 7.30pm.
